How to use XP-More, the 1st step:

Apr 28, 2010 at 10:05 AM

I am a newbie here,

Anyone care about explaining what to do first before click on the xp-more.exe?  It immediately asks for a folder name.  What folder name?

What does it expect?  A VM?  I have VMWare, I have a Linux VM in my Windows 7, how to drag that machine into XP-more pop up box?

Any one care about showing how to create the VM first?

Hi jychan28,

When XP-More is launched, if first looks for the virtual machines' folder. Typically, the folder would be C:\Users\<your user>\Virtual Machines, where the last part could be in different languages. The folder should contain .vmcx files. I couldn't find any way of getting the location of this folder from Windows, so XP-More makes some "educated guesses". If they are wrong, the user is asked to manually locate that folder.

I'm not sure whether Windows 7 comes with the Virtual PC feature as a default. If you do not see it on your start menu, you might have to add it. You can get it here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx

Please let me know if you still can't make it work.
